The launch of the Emirates Speciality Hospital Project in Entebbe marked a significant milestone in healthcare cooperation between Uganda and the United Arab Emirates. The groundbreaking ceremony was led by H.E. Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs, alongside Hon. Anifa Kawooya Bangirana, Uganda's Minister of State for Health, Dr Diana Atwine, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, H.E. Abdalla Hassan AlShamsi, United Arab Emirates Ambassador to Uganda; H.E. Ambassador Zaake Wanume Kibedi, Uganda’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates; and Erina Zalwango, Counsellor at the Uganda Consulate General in Dubai, alongside other distinguished dignitaries and officials. The 100-bed facility will initially provide specialised ENT and ophthalmology services, with plans to expand into neurosurgery, spine surgery, and other advanced specialties. As project management and implementation partner, Areem Plus, led by Dr. Rajeev Mangottil, is supporting the delivery of this landmark development, which is expected to strengthen Uganda's healthcare system, improve access to specialised care, and position the country as a regional hub for advanced medical services.
